Welcome to my bookshelf!

Here you can find more about my debut fiction book 'The Gentleness of Steel', as well as get a first glimpse of my next novel, 'The Jewel Tree'.

My stories are rooted in real life and explore the strength and vulnerability that live side by side in all of us.

If you enjoy fiction with emotional depth, complex relationships and characters who fight for a better future, you're in the right place.

The Gentleness Of Steel Book Cover

A gripping and emotional story of survival, courage and quiet strength.

Adie wants to be free. For ten years, her husband, Bill, has kept her in a prison constructed of fear. She knows if she ever leaves, he will kill her - and now that same fear has invaded the lives of her children.

She knows the police won’t help; run on home and be a good wife, they’d say.

Risking it all, she dares everything to get herself and her children away from his influence, fleeing far and wide and hiding amongst ordinary people to escape her husband’s wrath.

Bill learnt early in life how to use terror as a means to get what he wanted. Until now, his methods have worked.

When the realisation dawns that his wife and children have escaped him, he embarks on a journey to uncover them with dark desires plaguing his every step.

With violence shimmering on the horizon, only the courage of ordinary people can stand between Adie and the man who seeks to destroy not only everything that she is, but her life as well.

"Reaching the halfway point of the High Street, he stopped and sat on a bench, lit a cigarette and took a long, deep drag. It was time to change persona..."

'The Jewel Tree'

My next fiction book is underway. The Jewel Tree carries a whisper of the otherworldly.

Joe is a Roma boy, living happily in the southeast of England during the years leading up to WWII, but catastrophe leaves him orphaned and his life becomes entwined with the upper classes.

Forced to attend an English public school he learns to survive in a world of abuse where the rules and manners are alien to him.

In his heart he will always be Black Blood Roma.

When, as a young man, WWII breaks out, he tries to resist the fighting only to find himself catapulted behind enemy lines to Nazi occupied France in a reckless attempt to rescue a group of Roma children.

Will he save them, and will those he loves, make it home?

"Something clasped his arm with a steadying grip. Joe jumped and turned to see the face of an angel, with crystal clear violet eyes... But then she took his hand, turned the palm up and gobbed a mouthful of green mulch into it. ‘Yarrow. You were looking for Yarrow,’ she said. ‘Put it in the wound."
